Historic Interest
A thatched roofed 17th century Grade II listed building, the oldest part of which is timber framed construction with brick infill and authentic leaded light windows. Formerly the farmhouse to Ashleigh Farm which was a working farm up until the late 1930s. Named The Shakespeare because, before opening as a public house in 1954, the farmhouse belonged to the senior partner of Shakespeare, McTurk and Graham, a firm of Leicester auctioneers, until the early 1950s.
