Historic Interest
Delicensed 06/11/13 landlord Chris Bateson owner Trust Inns. Demolished, land for sale by Trust Inns at £245K. The Pub was included in the first selective (Orange and Black) Greater Manchester Guide in 1976 and again in the later 1980 one too. In 1982 it was a Tetley pub selling Mild and Bitter (H). In December 1976 As a result of a strike at Tetley's Warrington Brewery Robinsons Bitter was available. The pub was listed in John Stotts 1977 guide to Good Beer in Bolton as selling Tetley Bitter and Mild (H), with TV, Juke Box, darts. Done up nicely. In late 1979 the pub started selling Walkers Warrington ale, but didn't last long. In mid 1986 Jennings Bitter was introduced and on on April 23rd 1986 the St Georges Day Pub Crawl visited the pub. It was listed in the Good Beer Guide from 1975 to 1978. The pub closed for a refurbishment in late 1986 and reopened painted pink and was renamed Scandals in early 1987, but still selling Tetley Mild and Bitter (H). Two years later it was refurbished again and returned to being a 'normal' pub once again being called the Saddle.
