Temporarily closed for cellar upgrade. Large open-plan Wetherspoon pub named after the local poet who was born in 1887. It was originally a print works, then an indoor market, and stretches from Castle Street to the public car park off Church Street. Access is from both ends. Partially carpeted and tiled, it has a small paved, walled, outside drinking area and a food area in a raised upper level.
Breakfast is served 8am till 12 noon and the main menu is available from 11.30am. Very popular and lively at weekends and busy on 'club' nights specialising in steaks and curries.
Easy access for wheelchairs is from Castle Street.
