Dating back to at least 1822, listed in Pigot's Directory 1828-29 and in Bagshaw's Directory of 1850, acquired by Birkenhead Brewery. Mentioned in Phiip Sulley's 'The Hundred of Wirral' as 'a very ancient rambling, thatched sructureof one storey, exceedingly picturesque'. Destroyed by fire in 1895 and rebuilt in 1901.
