This Pub is Closed Long Term
Built as a byre and converted into an inn around 1850. Tucked away in its own grounds just off the main road through the village it takes its name from the Carlisle to Newcastle railway line. Even the footrest in the bar is an old section of rail. On a clear day the views across the Bewcastle Fells are superb. Close to Lanercost Priory and Hadrian's Wall.
