This Pub is Closed Long Term
Pub closed May 2013, future uncertain. Formerly a court house, coaching inn and the haunt of smugglers, the bars have changed little since those days, and the pub is supposed to harbour an imprisoned ghost. This ancient and friendly hostelry offers slate/stone floors, log fires in winter, four-poster beds and a genuine olde-worlde traditional atmosphere. The house beer is called Punch Bowl Ale, while the guest ale appears in summer. Food, as bar meals or in the restaurant, is available 1200-1400 (1500 summer) and 1900 (1800 summer)-2100, Tue evening to Sunday lunchtime. In the pub's court house days, hangings took place in a special field nearby.
Summer Hours are from Easter onwards.
