This Pub is Permanently Closed
Most of the licensees of the pub were also farmers. In 1900 & 1904 the licensee was Mrs Catherine Hall, by 1908 Henry Blake and in 1911/12 Leonard Blake. By 1916 William Pinnock was at the property and by 1921 Alfred Wilder, the last licensee of the property. In 1925 the licence was referred, compensation of £850 was paid and the pub closed in December of that year. At the time of closure the Newport Brewery Company were leasing the pub from the executors of Sir Francis Boughey. 1n 1928 John Morrey was occupying the property as a farmer and it is now a private house, Plough House.
