A friendly inn dating from 1710 at the heart of a rural village which is a haven for walkers, with the Pennine Way, St Cuthbert's Way and Scottish National Trail all close by. The cosy public bar is warmed by a large wood-burning stove and the locals are happy to chat with visitors. There is also a separate games room and an attractive dining room.
