An attractive 270-year-old coaching inn with a flagstone bar, side room (now used for darts) and conservatory restaurant. Photographs and pictures show items of local interest, horses and fishing. The Inn is popular with walkers, being at the confluence of the Pennine Way, St. Cuthbert’s Way and Scottish National Trail. In a tradition from Wainwright's time, those completing the Pennine Way are awarded a free half pint of beer. The hearty food is home cooked and includes locally sourced ingredients. Check out the handy walkers' bookshelf in the bar.
