Faded Victorian hotel now owned by a local businessman who hopes to revive its fortunes. Large bar probably dating from the 1970s but in remarkably good condition. Mainly known at the moment for its ghost nights, it will be interesting to see how it develops.

Historic Interest

Part of ill-fated Summer Gardens scheme - another part is now Regent Park. Finally opened in 1895, acquired by Ind Coope in 1905 after financial difficulties. Disposed of in 1982 (by what was then Allied Lyons) since when it has struggled and been closed for long periods
