This pub is owned by Shepherd Neame, the Kent Brewery, who have just completed a total refurbishment. This is the only regular source of their beers in the area. Dating from 1106, this inn has seen its fair share of murders! One 17th century landlord used a hinged bedstead and a trap door to tip his victims into boiling liquid. This historic Grade 2* coaching inn is on the old London to Bath road. Wooden floors, old beams and open fires are mixed with modern furnishings, providing a relaxed atmosphere for drinking and dining. Local ingredients are used wherever possible and two Shepherd Neame brews are available. Sunday roasts are available noon to 8pm.
