A popular family & dog friendly pub, recently rebranded by Marston's as a 'Grandstand' pub, meaning it shows lots of TV sport and is decorated with sports memorabilia.
Situated in the middle of 'Turnberry Estate' (as it has become known). It was built c1988 and was originally intended to be named 'The Shires', after the new estate's actual name, which never really caught on.
The Bloxwich born TV presenter of 'One Man & His Dog', Phil Drabble, lived nearby on Stafford Rd, and was called upon to officially open the pub, so the name was changed at the last minute in his honour.
Ironically, after the opening ceremony, the pub would not allow his dog inside prompting Phil to leave early!
This Pub serves no changing beers and 2 regular beers.
Cask Ale
