Busy and cosy community pub on the town's main street with two bars plus a games room. Popular with a good mix of people. Hot food is served all day except Monday. A real fire adds a cosy feel in winter. There are ample decked and grassed areas to the rear and tables to the front. Lots of fun events are arranged every year raising money for various charities.
Built c.1800 and still retaining a three-roomed layout. The public bar on the left has an old wood surround fireplace with 1930/50s brick interior; the counter may date from the 1960s and the bar back is modern at the top, possibly older below. The bar on the right has a similar counter and another old wood surround fireplace with 30s brick interior. Small games room at the rear has some 1950s 'beauty board' on the dado and service via a hatch to the back of the bar another small brick fireplace. New bar tops.
