The original public house, the Blackmoor Gate Hotel was destroyed in a fire. The Old Station House Inn was originally one of the main stations on the Lynton-Barnstaple Narrow Gauge Railway, that operated from 1898 until its closure in 1935.The Inn is situated at Blackmoor Gate, which is roughly mid-way between Barnstaple, Ilfracombe and South Molton (about 10 miles in each direction), and approx. 1,000 ft above sea level on the edge of Exmoor National Park. The converted station now offers a full range of facilities with two bars, a games area, and restaurant seating for up to 100 people. From most of the dining areas, there are panoramic views down the Blackmoor valley, and a beer garden provides further seating on a sunny day. There is also an exciting outdoor play area to keep the children amused, allowing parents to relax. The pub has a book library, with books also for sale. The pub welcomes motorhome stopovers, although limited facilities - please check with the pub.
