Pub comprises a lounge, with a restaurant area behind, a snug, plus a separate bar, and a beer garden. The low wooden beams and wood panelling give the pub a homely, traditional feel. Refurbished in November 2018. Changing beer is usually a LocAle.

Blue Plaque on exterior wall commemorating Harold Cottam, the wireless operator of RMS Carpathia who received the SOS message from RMS Titanic thereby saving 750 lives. He retired to Lowdham in 1958. In 1855, the Old Ship was fully licensed under publican J. Paling. Asset of Community Value registered 27th June 2016 and nominated by the Nottingham Branch of CAMRA. As at November 2017, the freehold (NT279084) for the Old Ship was held by Unique Pub Properties Limited [Reg. No. 3726292], a subsidiary of Ei Group plc.
