This imposing country house was built in 1797 and occupied, at different times, by brewers William Worthington and Robert Ratcliff. Converted into a 50-room hotel in 1959, it now operates under the snappy title of Mercure Burton upon Trent Newton Park Hotel.
The comfortable lounge bar (Club Bar) is situated to the right off the entrance hall and features wood panelled walls and ceiling. Extensive gardens, with outdoor drinking on patio over-looking rear garden, are accessed from the bar or through a large conservatory linked to a separate oak panelled dining room, the Folly Restaurant. There are several conference/function rooms available; the hotel holds a Civil Wedding licence.
