Historic Interest

An old inn, known as The Needles, was located at this location. It is clearly shown on Bryant's map of 1831 as the Needless Inn and again on the OS map of 1840 - although it is not clear if this is a misspelling. It was demolished before the mid 1860s when Needwood Farm was built on the site. Maps up to 1900 still show the Needless Inn long after the old inn was replaced with the farm house. Needwood farm was eventually demolished to allow the expansion of Brackenwood Golf Course.
