This town centre Wetherspoon outlet opened in 2000. Originally a cinema, the large single room retains the high ceiling. Cosy alcoves with high backed settles occupy the back wall. The pub is popular with all age groups and walkers are welcome. There are ten handpumps with at least five guest beers usually available and local breweries are often represented. At least one boxed cider is usually offered. Eighteen keg taps serve a range of lagers, craft beers, ciders and Guinness. The usual range of Wetherspoon's food is served from breakfast until 11pm every day. Numerous TV screens show the day's events and there are some games machines present. The railway station is close by and bus stops are immediately adjacent to the pub.
