This Pub is Permanently Closed

Town centre former hotel that last traded in 1970 as a Fremlin's house, a rarity in Gravesend. The Mitre dated from 1726 and was known as The Pelican until 1795, and The Duke of York from 1795 to 1835.

Sadly for the people of Gravesend this fine building was demolished in 1971 and the site is now occupied by an estate agent and a pawnbroker. Not everyone would see this as an improvement.
