A characteristic rural pub and restaurant located by a stream on the eastern edge of Harden village and previously designated a Tetley Heritage Inn for its architectural merit. The building is reputed to have been constructed in 1550 and the site has been a farmhouse, coaching house, courtroom and prison. It retains many historical features, in particular, the "cell" room including a barred window and preserved inglenook fireplace dating back to the reign of William and Mary. There is a main lounge area, a smaller snug and a dining area to the rear which has been extended with an orangery. The three traditional, open-log fires help provide a warm welcome during colder days. The pub prides itself on its home-cooked food. The wide selection of beverages offered include local cask ales. An extensive beer garden is located behind the premises. On Saturdays, the 'Shovel Shack Bar & Grill' provides an outdoor bar and kitchen. Walkers, cyclists and horse-riders are welcomed and equine facilities are provided.
