Live Music Venue
July 2023 - lease on the market through Davis Coffer Lyons.
10/03/23 - Reporter comments as follows - ""Regarding your note dated last August about it being dead, it was open when I visited last week. No Real Ale. Limited draught beers, of which Salt Jute was the only one of any interest. The upstairs dining room is now a separately run burger place."
05/08/22 - Dead last night (Friday) at just after 9.00 pm. The website's cryptic and gives the impression that 'Armand' is some sort of caretaker.
Large single bar with games/public area in front. Comfortable lounge seating to right and a stage to rear. A broad range of entertainment including music and poetry is performed. The upstairs room reached via an impressive staircase doubles as both a dining room and art gallery. Beers from such as Beavertown and Kernel. For opening hours see 'What's On' page on website.
Historic Interest
A fine brick and stucco public house now painted blue. In the pediment are the words Hoxton Distillery, which gives a clue to the origins of the building. When first built it was a gin distillery, using water from an underground spring.
