This Pub is Permanently Closed
This delightful pub, on the outskirts of Ryde, is the only survivor from the 6-strong George Lake estate, founded in the 19th century. Previously a wine and spirits shop called the “Eclipse”, it was taken over by the Lake family in 1878 and became a staging post for the Newport-Ryde coach. Surprisingly large pub with many rooms and full of character, it remains a back street local with a friendly lively atmosphere. Well worth a visit. Plans in hand to convert the old stables to Fish and Chips shop. Local Chess players meet her, infact games are an important part of the entertainment in this local with games evenings, darts and Wi competitions
