The Kings House is thought to be one of the oldest public houses in Scotland, dating back to the 17th Century.
Used by the King's Officers as a barracks after the Battle of Culloden in 1746, as a base to patrol and keep the "Highlanders" under control.
Very popular will hill walkers and particularly those completing the West Highland Way. Re-opened after a massive refurbishment in 2018.
[Update 6 Feb 2023: new bar manager emphasising stocking local ales, so may be a good destination in times to come. NB table reservations are required even for residents/non-residents who intend just to drink.]
