King's Head, Dartford

The Kings Head dated from 1690 or possibly earlier. It may have operated as an hotel from the start, but records show that in 1851, it expanded to include the adjacent premises (corner of Lowfield Street). At the time it was renamed The Kings Head County Hotel, but this may have been a fairly short-lived venture given the coming of the railways.

The pub is known to have been part of the tied estate of Plumstead brewers Beasley's until 1963 when they were taken over by Courage. It ended its days as a Courage house, and is currently (2020) used as an employment bureau.

The more recent image (thanks to www.dover-uk.com for sharing) depicts a very narrow-fronted building and this is more or less how the building looked until its closure in 1969. If anyone has a more recent picture or any further information we would be delighted - please use the feedback form.
