This Pub is Permanently Closed
The Kemsley Arms was originally built for workers at the local Kemsley Paper Mill and is a striking feature situated at the top of Grovehurst Avenue. The pub closed in May 2013 and was listed as Swale's first "Asset of Community Value" in November 2013 after a campaign by a local group. However in October 2014 the pub's owners put in an application for change of use to flats which but nothing happened.
A new application in 2020 with revised plans was for
Change of use of part of the ground floor of the former Public House to provide 1 no. flexible Retail space (A1, A3 or A4). Change of use of the rest of former Public House and erection of a first and second floors to provide 5 no. 2 bed, 14 no. 1 bed and 1 no. studio apartment. Erection of a block of flats consisting of 7 no. 2 bed and 1 no. 1 bed apartments. With associated parking, access arrangements and landscaping. Open for comment icon
