Historic Interest
The pub's name commemorates John Wilkinson (1728-1808) who, with fellow Ironmaster Abraham Darby III, was responsible for the building of the worlds first iron bridge across the Severn Gorge in 1779. He earned the nickname "Iron Mad" and was buried in an iron coffin. Grade II Listed, Historic England list entry 1053901.
