Situated in the heart of a busy market town, this one-room pub owned by Castle Rock Brewery was a former Methodist chapel, and has a cottage-style interior and flagstone floor. Up to nine cask ales and three ciders are served. In 2019 a terrace was added, mainly open air but covered and heated at one end. In 2021 the pub began offering Sky Sports on large screen televisions. A pool table was installed in the Pony Trap, the upstairs function room, in 2022.
Events include tap takeovers and meet the brewer nights, occasional live music (including open mic and karaoke) and poetry evenings, live sport permitting.
