This Pub is Permanently Closed
A 17th century framed cottage, the local carriers carts to Stafford are believed to have started from the pub. By the early 20th century it was owned by Eley's Brewery, Stafford. It was closed at the end of 1937 and the licence was transferred to the Alexandra Hotel in Stafford on the 8th March 1938. The licensee in 1927, Walter Ernest Wright, remained on the premises and it became the village shop and post office. It is now a private residence. Full details of owners and licensees can be found in John Connor's book "The Inns and Alehouses of Stafford: Part 2 Through the North Gate"
