Britain's first motorway services pub has been built at a reported cost of over one million pounds at the Beaconsfield Extra service area at junction two of the M40.
The bar sports five handpumps with two LocAles -- Windsor and Eton Knight of the Garter and Windsor Knot -- with an intention to rotate other LocAles on these two pumps. Greene King IPA, Sharp's Doom Bar and Fuller's London Pride are the national brands which share the bar.
However, drivers are probably in the minority at a motorway services as anyone who's ever eaten a meal in a Wetherspoon pub will know that the catering trade is the key to the pub's potential. And, of course, the provision of decent and reasonably priced food at motorway service stations is, to say the least, something of a glaring gap in the market.
The pub is a modern, very smart Wetherspoon new build with an outdoor drinking area.
The terms of the lease meen that CAMRA discount vouchers cannot be accepted.
This Pub serves 4 changing beers and 1 regular beer.
Hope & Champion, Beaconsfield
