A traditional village pub with attractive informal gardens. It has long had a reputation for the quality of its beer. They offer ales from Greene King and guest ales from the SIBA list. The Abbot is served direct from the cask.
The cosy little public bar, with its tiled floor, enormous fireplace and upholstered benches, is a delight decorated with pump clips on the walls.
The lounge has been redecorated and has a bar, comfortable seating and a piano. There is a large beer garden with a mature walnut tree.
Historic Interest
Building dates back to 1776 as a cottage. By 1851 it contained a public house and at one time was owned by the University. Historic door into lounge with viewing hatch.
