Former 17th-century coaching inn set beside the main road, near a beach frequented by fossil hunters. It has oak beams and an open fireplace, a comfortable bar and separate restaurant. Outside is a large and superbly maintained walled garden (a real sun trap) where boules is played in the summer. There are nine en-suite rooms and is an ideal base for walkers with easy access to the Quantock hills and the Coleridge Way. It offers good food and wines and welcomes dogs with a shower available for muddy dogs and boots.
