Originally the New Inn, and dating back to 1838, the pub was once a tied house of Wintle's Forest Brewery in Mitcheldean. The name was changed to the Hearts of Oak by Whitbread in the 1970's. The Hearts of Oak has been transformed into a well-loved community local, in stark contrast to the failing and run-down pub it was before the current owners bought it in 2022 and put the heart back into the oak. Real fires, charity quiz nights and live music most Saturdays. Food is served all day Mondays to Saturdays with Sunday roasts. . Former Forest of Dean CAMRA Pub of the Year. The pub is set back from the road and has a pleasing symmetrical frontage.
