A short walk from the centre of Stafford this two room free house is well worth a visit. The pub dates from 1831 and a newspaper article from the day it opened can be seen above the bar. The pub was saved from closure in 2023 and has been refurbished, real fires are retained in both bars. Freshly made cobs, scotch eggs and pork pies are always available. Roadside tables outside as well as in the smoking area.

Historic Interest

William Barbour was licensee and a brewer in 1860.
