Plush single bar pub at the top of the hill on the Alresford Road with an emphasis on dining but with some tables left for drinkers, stools at the bar and a couple of leather armchairs. More tables are available in the conservatory and outside on the patio/garden at the rear which also has a large wooden gazebo. Another small patio area is at the front. Food consists of a mezze board, gourmet burgers and pub classics. There is also a vegan menu and Sunday roasts.
While the pub dates from the 1930s, the interior is very ornate with lots of gilt, deep red colours & plenty of dark wood. At the rear is a conservatory providing an additional dining area/function room. The front of the pub has impressive floral displays in the summer and has been the winner of several Winchester in Bloom awards.
