Traditional local with a distinctive 'globe' sign. The outlook from the Globe is of rugged mountain scenery, a sight partly obscured from view until 1955 when British Rail (Western Region) allowed William Hancock & Co Ltd to install windows that would overlook railway property. In those days railway sidings ran alongside the pub, with a spur off the line running opposite. The surroundings still provide a glimpse of the area's industrial past, while clearly visible just down the road is the old railway trackbed that wound its way up the valley to Blaenavon and beyond. Within the walls of the pub is a traditional two-room layout with a small public bar that has a real fire in winter, and a comfortable lounge that extends to a pool room at the rear. This room hosts live entertainment at weekends. Note the pictures of the area's past. Sadly real ale has succumbed to a lack of interest.
