Traditional local with the city’s best beer garden, overlooking the cathedral and also the site of an artillery battery which bombarded the cathedral during the Civil War. Inside, the central serving area serves a simple bar room with a dartboard, and a cosy lounge. Bar snacks are available. The nearby historic home of Erasmus Darwin – Lunar Society founder and grandfather to Charles – is well worth visiting. Varied guest ales, sometimes from local Trinity Brew Co.
