This Pub is Closed Long Term
Large, friendly pub, bright clean with a strong emphasis on food at lunchtimes.
Sport TV, Darts, beer garden, snacks and lunchtime food. Very pleasant.
Has recently re-opened with 2 regular Greene King Ales and 2 changing ales sourced from national breweries. Good food selection of fine quality.
Closed on Saturday 8th June 2024 with its future now uncertain.
Active Campaign
The pub closed in June 2024. A community group has been formed to campaign to reopen the pub, and make a bid to purchase the pub. The group has had the pub registered as an Asset of Community Value (on 2 Sep 2024), and they have initiated a moratorium period. A questionnaire has been circulated to village residents seeking their support.
They aim to raise £900,000 through selling of shares, grants, funding and loans for the freehold purchase, and renovation work, have started a community share scheme, and by Oct 2024 they had 236 share pledges. They will be forming Friends of the Flying Saucer, a Community Benefit Society (CBS).
