A quirky country pub, which has been an independent freehouse since 2017 when the current owners purchased the pub from Fuller's, having previously been the tenants from 2010. The pub, which dates from around 1800, is on the first floor, accessed via an outside metal staircase. It has a covered balcony overlooking the large enclosed riverside garden, with the ancient Berry Brook running on two sides.
The pub is known for its live music events and has an award-winning reputation for catering for those with dietary needs. They also offer a range of alcohol-free bottled beers, gluten-free bottled beers, vegan wines, and gluten-free and/or vegan keg beers and ciders.
As well as live music, the pub also hosts classic car and bike meets and charity events throughout the year. During ticketed music events the pub may be closed to other customers.
The changing beer range mainly features Arkell's, Vale, Hook Norton, Chiltern and some seasonal beers from Tring. The currently available and coming soon real ales are listed on their website where details of upcoming events and an interesting history of the pub can also be found.
Plenty of car parking space and a toilet on car park level for disabled customers (with baby changing facilities). Standalone motorhomes or campervans are welcome when pre-booked.
