This Pub is Permanently Closed
Handily opposite the station, this Wetherspoon pub was named after the only British woman to enlist and bear arms in WW1 (for Serbia). She was the daughter of the Vicar of St Pauls, Thornton Heath. It closed on 13 May 2018, after JD Wetherspoon activated a break point 20 years into their 40-year lease. This was despite a well-supported campaign by locals to save their 'community centre'. Planning application 18/01580/FUL requesting a change of use was granted on 22 May 2018.
