This pub stands next to the new Gateway plaza complex and has been closed for well over 6 years.

A planning application ref 2019/0293 was submitted: Demolition of vacant public house and the erection of an apartment building comprising 14 residential units and 2 town house dwellings. This application was refused; and an appeal dismissed by Inspectorate c 28 Oct 2020 chiefly for design reasons. A new planning application is expected in 2021.
