Historic Interest
Locally Listed:- Purpose built police station constructed in 1871 of Italianate design. Two storey with elevated ground floor over basement, pitched slate roof. Yellow stock brick, stone quoins, string courses, cills and decorative key stones to arched head windows. Ornate bracketed eaves over red brick band. Ground floor originally charge room, recreation room, reserve room, store and three cells. Separate stables. Cast iron railings and steps to frontage, bracketed lamp over entrance. Brick wall substantial ornate piers and stone copings, and plinths.
