Falcon, Bolton

The pub was listed in John Stotts 1977 Guide to Good Beer in Bolton as selling Titley Mild and Bitter (H), with TV, Juke Box, darts, two pool tables. A triangular architectural wonder built by Tong's Brewery. The pub was visited on a pub crawl on December 21st 1979 and again on March 8th 1981. It was listed in the selective Greater Manchester Beer Guide for 1980. In May 1981 it was a Tetley pub selling Tetley Mild and Bitter (H). On July 8th 1981 there was a guest speaker from Tetleys at the branch meeting which was held here. Further Branch Meetings were held here on March 10th 1982, February 9th 1983 and January 11th 1984. From around 1983 the Tetley Bitter was swapped for Walkers Best Bitter, but by 1985 it had reverted back to Tetleys Bitter again. It was listed n the Good Beer Guide in 1984 and 1985. In 1985 Branch Meetings were held here on June 5th and December 4th and in 1986 on July 2nd. At this point the pub was under threat from the Topp Way road scheme. By November 1986 the pub was expected to close in January 1987, but this was deferred until the Spring when it did and by December it had been demolished. The last Xmas pub crawl had visited on December 11th 1986
