This Pub is Permanently Closed
Since reopening in the early 1980s this former beerhouse has been extended several times but it retains its traditional atmosphere. The locally sourced, home-cooked food has a very good reputation and is served every session except Monday and Sunday evening. Meals are mostly served in the conservatory extension at the back. Up until 1981 this was one of the last "front room" pubs in the area, presided over by the redoubtable Mrs Bullen who would fetch your pint of Tolly Bitter from out the back while you sat in the tiny single room (the space now occupied mostly by the bar). It was sold by Punch around 2011 but failed to thrive. Planning permission was granted in 2015 for conversion to residential use. On 5th May 2016 it ceased trading as a pub.
