The open-plan pub has four pumps, usually with three running, and also features home-cooked food which is available most lunchtimes (Mon-Sat) and some weekday evenings (Tue-Thu, plus Sat). The interior decor is homely and the atmosphere of this quiet pub is friendly. An outside covered area has been added at the front. The pub is close to the Hythe Ferry* Terminal, so accessible from Southampton.

* The Hythe ferry has been shut since 22nd August 2024 when the mooring pontoon was found to be damaged and unsafe. As of February 2026 repairs have not been completed and the Hythe and Southampton Ferry Company has been put up for sale. Hythe and Southampton Ferry Company was a subsidiary of Red Funnel which itself has been acquired by Njord Partners.

Historic Interest

Started life as a Baptist Chapel in 1845. 400 yards away is the world's oldest working Pier railway where Hythe Ferry travels to Southampton and back.
