Closed by Marstons in 2016 with future uncertain. But reopened in 2021, serving Indian food. The pub consists of one L-shaped room. Outside is a pleasant beer garden facing Catherine Street.
Historic Interest
During the 1950s and 1960s, twenty seven acres of neighbouring Victorian terraced housing disappeared as part of the Wharf Street Slum Clearance Program. A picture in the bar, from way before then, shows the now detached pub as a corner terrace property. It also shows painted in large letters on the external wall, along with the pubs name, Leicester Brewing and Malting Co, which was bought out and closed by Ansells in 1952. After a spell with Burtonwood Brewery, it was acquired by Marstons.
