Set in beautiful countryside, this multi-roomed 19th-century (1860) free house is easily accessible from the train station on The Tarka Line connecting Exeter and Barnstaple. Offering locally brewed Devon ales, including their own label, Muddy Duck ale, along with premium Estrella lager, Sandford Orchards Ciders, bottled Guinness and an eclectic list of 47 wines, plus 20 sold by the glass. They also have their own wine label; red, white and rosé plus soft drinks and spirits, an interesting selection of local gins, freshly brewed coffee and tea, practically on tap, there's something for everyone.
There is a different menu for lunch and dinner, but always fish, steak, salad and a vegetarian option. Our signature dish is Creedy Carver Confit Duck Leg Cassoulet. Puddings are utterly tempting with Sticky Toffee Pudding, Black Forest Brownie, or the cheese board. There's a children's menu and bar and kitchen nibbles are available throughout the day. Just let the staff know if there are any special dietary needs.
They have a PUB-UP-SHOP selling a huge variety of essentials, including dairy, fruit and veg, meat, bread and cupboard staples. We also offer a variety of pre-cooked meals that can be reheated and enjoyed at home. Our village doesn’t have a shop so the PUB-UP-SHOP has been hugely well received with our locals over the past few months.
The pub has a large beer garden with plenty of seating which also benefits from a children’s play area.
