This Pub is Permanently Closed
Named after the most commonly sought finish in a standard game of darts and sitting in the dip of two rises on the road between Bramcote Village and Chilwell High Street/Beeston. A community local where sports, both played and watched, are popular. The main bar features a darts board while pool takes it's place in the lounge. Scenes form BBC drama-comedy Truckers were filmed here in 2013. Planning permission granted June 2017 for the demolition of the pub, and a supermarket to be built in its place.
Historic Interest
A former Home Ales pub, the Double Top opened in February 1969. "The building feels like a very pared-down version of the Wheelhouse by Cecil Howitt and Partners, who are the most likely architects. It adjoined a petrol filling station, recently demolished for flats, and there is a new tram stop close by (opened in late 2015) that is likely to bring further changes to the area. When the building opened there was a mural of a dartboard on the concave façade by the entrance, and there was a dartboard on the pub sign on the original pub sign as well as the present one."
