Grade 2 listed former coaching inn. It was a Joule's pub and is decorated in their usual tasteful style and is unchanged since being sold and taken over by new people.. The interior consists of two bars, a small public bar to the left and a large lounge to the right. The lounge is divided into discrete areas with settles and bench seating. At the rear is a patio overlooking fields. Note the stained glass panels with pictures of dogs. Food is served all day Tue - Sun. There are five handpumps, but they may not all be in use. It was called the Talbot for a while, but was always known as the Dog, which is now its official name.

The building next door is available for hire for functions. It used to be a brewhouse from 1836 until 1928 when it was closed by Southam's brewery. Note that the bar is wheelchair accessible, but the pub toilets are not. There is an accessible toilet in the aforementioned function room.

The beer range may change. It used to sell beers from Newbrew / Plan B, but they are not brewing at present because they are moving from Newport to Market Drayton. When they are up and running, expect their beers to be back on the bar.
