Historic Interest
A small pub on Bunker's Hill close to the quarry and said to have been used by the quarry workers. The dates it was open and precise location are unknown. Bunkers Hill was a small group of buildings also known as Prospect Hill, White City (possibly because all the buildings were whitewashed annually) and the Common is shown on the old photo and on old maps (up to 1954 but not 1956) as north of Bracken Lane and east of Mount Road. The cottages on the site and any trace of the pub were finally demolished around about 1955 and new housing built in what is now Derwent Road.
