17th century pub situated int the Clun Valley within the Shropshire Hills AONB.
Closed in 2023, it is the subject of a community buyout which came to fruition in 2025. It reopened on 28/11/25. It is at present being run as a not for profit company, but tenants are being sought. Initially open from 5-11pm Thursday - Saturday, hours will be increased when circumstances permit. Food is not yet available. Three handpumps serve beer from local breweries. There is still work to be done and further information will be added as and when received.
A survey by the local CAMRA branch needs to be undertaken.

Newcastle Parish Council.
The Newcastle Parish Council raised funds to purchase this pub. They were awarded a Community Ownership Scheme grant of £270K. With a Public Works Loan Board loan and their community fundraising funded the purchase of The Crown which was completed 21st Feb 2025. A community group the Friends of the Crown Inn, has raised funds to refurbish the pub, and they will run the pub until a tenant can be found (see this article).
